Marple Moneywise offers an entirely confidential and voluntary service, free to church members and the community of Marple, to help individuals or families prepare a budget of their finances.

There are currently five stewardship-trained personal budget coaches (PBCs) and an appointment can be made by ringing phone 07954 099177.

In the current financial climate, many people are worried about how they will manage on less income with an ever rising cost of living. It can be surprising to see in a budget how small amounts of money, for coffees or lunches for example, add up over a month to a more substantial amount. A review with a personal budget coach can help to identify any areas like this and also help you to work out your income and your outgoings. Income should be greater than expenditure to avoid getting into debt. Anyone with serious financial difficulties will be given information on options of free debt advice and their PBC will give any help and support as needed to follow these through.

The aim of the Marple Moneywise service is to help prevent people overspending and getting into escalating debt and to help them learn to live within the money they have available to spend each month.

Being in debt can lead to worry and ill health whereas being in control of your finances gives rise to wellbeing and contentment.

We can guide you through the process of putting together a realistic budget, offering money saving tips and, if necessary, help you obtain free debt advice.

We can assist you every step of the way.

If you are concerned about your own finances, then ring the Marple Moneywise phone 07954 099177 for a review. If you know someone who is worried about their finances then give them this link and encourage them to give the Moneywise team a ring.

Helping others

You can find credit-card sized Marple Moneywise and Community Chest cards in the foyer at the side entrance to All Saints’. We would like to encourage you to carry these cards with you so you can pass one or other of them to someone who may need them. The information on one of these cards (which is also contained in the following two sections) could make the difference to a family between keeping their home and losing it.
