The Book of Revelation, with Dr Ian Paul (see slides)

For many Christians, the Book of Revelation is a complete mystery, not helped by the fact that it has suffered over the years from so many wild and wacky misinterpretations.

At heart it is a restatement in graphic terms of the central gospel truth that Jesus is Lord of all, and is a letter written to early Christians undergoing serious persecution at the hands of a brutal pagan power. Designed to bring encouragement and to foster perseverance under pressure its measure is still timely in our own day and age.

Dr Ian Paul, Dean of Studies, at St John’s College, Nottingham, is one of the country’s leading authorities on this book and has a knack of explaining complex ideas in a way which makes them accessible.

12 June

The NT Epistles by Stephen Dolley (see notes)

The last session looks at the non-Pauline epistles. These include the Epistle to the Hebrews, the Epistles of James, Peter, Jude and John. Written to various groups of Christians in the latter half of the first century AD these letters are designed to equip their hearers to live faithful lives in challenging situations.
